Peter E. Converse has practiced corporate, securities and commercial real estate law in Chicago for more than 25 years.  Peter graduated from The University of Michigan Law School in 1983, where he concentrated his studies in business organizations, securities, commercial transactions and tax law.  He received his B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1979, where he majored in Economics and graduated with High Honors, and received the Anna M. Ely award as the top economics graduate in the University.  He spent his early career with two major Loop law firms, and then established his own private practice.  Peter formed Converse & Brown, LLC with his long-time colleague Jeffrey Grant Brown in 2005. 

Peter is the Chairman of the Chicago Bar Association Corporation and Business Law Committee (2005-06), and served the same Committee as Vice-Chairman in 2004-05.  He speaks regularly in numerous professional seminars, and has written articles on topics including various aspects of corporations, limited liability companies, mergers and acquisitions, and private securities law.

Jeffrey Grant Brown’s practice concentrates in litigation and trial work.  Mr.
Brown is a 1986 graduate of DePaul University College of Law; and holds a B.A. degree from Michigan State University in Business Administration. He has represented employees and employers in employment contract drafting and dispute resolution; discrimination in the areas of gender, age, disability, national origin, religion and race; anti-competition contracts; defamation; retaliatory discharge; and other claims related to employment law and litigation. Jeff is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) and the Illinois Chapter of NELA. He has also a past member of the Chicago Bar Association Labor and Employment Law specialty panel. Jeff has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in several employment-law related class actions, including the Hooters Restaurant gender discrimination case.

Catherine P. Sons is involved in the firm's litigation and transactional practices. Catherine is a 2006 graduate of DePaul University College of Law, where she was a Dean's Merit Scholar and served as an Associate Editor of the DePaul Law Review. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from Illinois State University in 2002, where she was a Presidential Scholar and graduated summa cum laude. Catherine is primarily involved in the firm's complex civil litigation and class action litigation work. She has experience representing employees in various wage and hour matters, including each of those matters listed under the "Current Cases" tab. She was primarily responsible for the recent Appellate Court decision in the case of Lewis v. Giordano's Enterprises, Inc., 921 N.E.2d 740 (1st Dist. 2009), in which the Illinois Appellate Court, as a matter of first impression in Illinois, held that private releases of wage claims arising under the Illinois Minimum Wage Law and the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act, obtained by an employer from its employees, are void as a matter of law. Catherine is also involved with the firm's transactional practice, including entity structure, M&A work and other corporate matters. She is also a member of the Chicago Bar Association.
